TRAVEL NEWS ALERT - FRANCE TRAVEL DELAYS DUE TO STRIKE

Unions in France are on a strike today against the French Government over their plans to reform the pension system. This strike is widespread as transport and energy workers, civil servants and teachers all are participating in the national strike.

Unions have threatened to extend the strike in France if the Government does not decide to renew the action. Unions that are on strike in France are from different sectors including transport, ports and power.

Owing to the strike in France, intercity trains to Paris are running at only one third of normal frequency. Rural train services are more seriously disrupted due to the strike.

Airports are also expecting significant disruption to flights as air traffic controllers and Air France staff has walked out as part of the strike. 30 percent of the flights are expected to be canceled due to the strike in France.
